Elementary Program Options
(learner-focused choices)

This year at FVDES we are expanding our elementary program to meet the educational needs of all distance learners. We have developed a three-option system that will give you and your child the best possible format for a successful year of learning. Please note that options 2 and 3 require regular submissions of portfolios for assessment purposes.

Option 1 - Fully structured program

The home facilitator and student use Open School materials combined with online activities and submissions that have been designed by our teachers and placed on their website classrooms. This provides a fully structured program with a wide variety of choice in the online components.

Option 2 - Partially structured program

The home facilitator and our teacher will start with our FVDES fully structured programs and select portions of alternative curriculum that fully meets BC IRP requirements. Evidence for alternative work is submitted in portfolio format every two weeks for evaluation by our teachers. This option provides more freedom for families to choose alternative activities and curriculum in consultation with their teacher.

Option 3 - Free structured program
