Elluminate Live (vClass) or Java Webstart does not start
If you clicked on any of the courses on either the Elementary or Secondary vClass pages, what should happen, is that:
- A new page should come up and ask you for username/password (see username/password does not work if you have issues with that). You then enter your Firstname Lastname as the username and Fvdes as the password.
- On the next page, after some seconds, a download should automatically happen. Then, FireFox or IE or Safari will ask you to RUN/OPEN this download with Java Webstart.
- If this does not come up, or, after clicking on OK nothing happens, what to do next depends on which computer platform you are on:
a) If you are on a PC, and there is no Java WebStart offered to Run/Open the download with, reinstall the latest Java version from the Internet. (www.java.com)
Very Important: Download Java, then CLOSE all(!) browser windows BEFORE you install Java. Then reboot your machine = shut down, restart.
b) If you are on a MAC and nothing happens, even after a prolonged time (can take up to 5 minutes on older computers) please check the following:
On the desktop, double click on:
Macintosh HD > SYSTEM > LIBRARY > FRAMEWORKS > JAVAVM.Frameworks > VERSIONS
and check if the folders "1.6" and "1.6.0" are present.
If they are, and you have administrative rights on this Mac,
delete both folders "1.6" and "1.6.0".
If not, please give us a call, we can fix that via remote control.
If they are not in that folder, you will have to return the machine to us, as something has happened to the Java installation and a reimage is necessary.
