PC Sound Mixer

The standard PC sound mixer looks more or less like this:
You get this by double-clicking on the loudspeaker icon in the tray (lower right corner, next to the digital clock). The mixer is (by default) in "playback" mode. it has a "recording" mode too.
Troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure, that "Volume Control" and "Wave" are set to maximum or at least very high. Be careful when using speakers and headsets. The sound output could be harmful to your ears, so increment the volume sliders slowly while playing a sound repeatedly via media player or other players.
- Make sure that for "Volume Control" and "Wave" both the "Mute" checkboxes are unchecked.
Now, let's switch to the recording mode of the mixer.
Click on OPTIONS > PROPERTIES > RECORDING
The mixer should now look like this (more or less, depending on the features of your sound card)
Make sure, the slider under Mic Volume is all the way up and the "Select" checkbox is checked.
